"Made from Plants" What does this actually mean?

Relevant for our fabrics Plantica Flow & Plantica Stretch, used in the High Sun Split Shorts, High Sun Short Tight and High Sun Sports Bra.

The yarns we use are made from plant oil instead of industry standards which is fossil fuel.

The oil is extruded from the seeds of the plant Ricinus communis, more commonly known as Castor Oil. This has a 25% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to the manufacturing of nylon.

The oil is converted into a bio-synthetic filament yarn identical to polyamide/nylon, meaning it becomes plastic!

In other words, the input is different, the result is the same.

As it has the same properties as conventional nylon being; durable, hydrophobic and very well suited for making sportswear. It can be recycled together with sportswear made from synthetic fibers.

Do we believe bio-synthetics is the final solution for the sportswear industry?

No.

We believe it is a step in the right direction while we figure out how to produce fabrics

without the use of soil, animals and water, which can biodegrade under realistic conditions.
